Retort 5

Towards the end of the book eragon feels the need to become more involved with the situation that he is in. The varden is comprised of dwarfs, elves, and whatever are left of the humans. At this part of the book eragon feels the need to be apart of something bigger eventhough he doesn't realize it yet. He is torn between the two groups. Each of the groups have a postive and negative side yet he has no incentive to go to ethier side. The problem with him is towards the end of the book is that each side has it good parts and its bad parts which lead to eragon not being able to any resposibilities.  As a result he eragon loses his morals and has to rely on his friend to knock some sense into him. This reminds of the yin and yang symbol becasue there needs to be a balance inbetween the two apposing forces in order for eragon to find his peace. Sometimes people find themselves in a similiar situations when they are torn between two friends. Neither of the friends can be right or wrong but just the fact of taking one person sides over the other person makes you a bad person. We need that third person to help us out in such situations who is more experienced and does not favor ethier side. In the book eragon had mortag who was his friend who was able to help him to chose. In our lives that person can be a friend, teacher, or parent.

Being the last post I do plan on reading eldest which is the next part in the triolgoy.This book also won a New York Times best seller so the story must be just as good a Eragon. From my friends I have heard that a new dragon rider appears to help Eragon. The following is a link to an influencial blogger who works for google. He wrote a book review on eldest. As dwarfs show Eragon and Saphira their new home in the city of Tronjheim they are each introduced to orik. orik is their guide who basiclally shows them around the city all of the back passages and tunnels because Tronjheim is like and underground maze similar to a ant hill. When i try to imagine the city I see something similar to the picture on the top. Any ways as Orik leaves them to rest for the night a young lady with a child shows up. Eragon is confused and is wondering what she wants. After wards he realizes that she wants his blessings for her young child. Not knowing what to do Saphira tells him to say prayer and touch the babies head and then afterward saphira kisses the baby on the head leaving a small star shaped mark on the babies head. At that point in time he understands the amount of responsibility that comes withe the amount of power he possess when he says"Eragon had never blessed anyone. It was not something done lightly in Alagaësia, as a blessing could easily go awry and prove to be more curse than boon—especially if it was
spoken with ill intent or lack of conviction.Do I dare take that responsibility? he
wondered." Which is similar to what peter Parker was told when uncle Ben was killed in the  movie/storyline of spider man. The link leads to a biography page which explains where Stan Lee the original Writer of Spiderman got the quote from and what it really means.

Entry 3

Brom starts to reveal certain truths to Eragon some of which were hard to believe. One of which was the only reason  he found his dragon saphira was by sheer luck. that he was never suppose to be apart of the war they are preparing for. Brom is actaully an agent of the varden, a rebel group working against the king, and that it was his mission to retrieve the egg but by chance it had hatched and saphira had chosen him by chance to become the next dragon rider. Brom reveals the truth to him when he says "“A worthy goal. . . . Very well: there is a war raging in Alagaësia between the Vardenand the Empire. Their conflict, however, reaches far beyond any incidental armed clashes. They are locked in a titanic power struggle . . . centered around you.” Eragon just learn that the big deal was about him. No one wanted to kill him but being one of the last dragon rider everyone wanted him to join their team. I would have a hard time trying to pick sides because both sided have their good sides and bad sides. It is very similar to picking a party during the governmenthttp://politicalquiz.net/ simulation. If I am that indecisive  I don't know what I would do if I was put into Eragons place.

My prediction is somewhat correct in which Eragon decides to go after the creatures that killed his uncle Garrow. He is acting on too much emotion and when Brom learns that he can't stop from Eragon from making an irrational decsion he decides to make him a saddle for Saphira to ride on. This book kind of reminds me of when I was young Eragon makes irrational decisions when he is mad and when I was young i did a similar thing. When anyone made fun of me for doing something i would always tell them to leave me alone and i wold sit their and try to do whatever it was all by myself whether it was simple as turning on the TV or doing my math homework. Some solutions listed were to ride out the storm let what ever you are doing take its toll but the better thing to do is to learn from previous experiences or talk to some one older to help you through your problems.One thing I learned is that do not act like a stubborn child. Let people help you get through it and Eragon did the exact opposite he went I search of his uncles killers and ends up getting hurt. he was not trained to fight with his dragon or any thing. We should always let other people help us when they offer. In the book Brom gave eragon an old dragon riders sword and he trained with him and taught him the basics which is evident through the next passage when brom says"“This was once a Rider’s blade,” said Brom gravely. “When a Rider finished his training,the elves would present him with a sword. Their methods of forging have always
remained secret. However, their swords are eternally sharp and will never stain. The
custom was to have the blade’s color match that of the Rider’s dragon, but I think we can
make an exception in this case. This sword is named Zar’roc. I don’t know what it means,
probably something personal to the Rider who owned it.” He watched Eragon swing the
sword."

My friends have suggested that I read this book during my free time except I have not have much success with it. This book is also fiction best seller according to ebay.com. thought the book is large if I get into it I think i can finish this book in a matter of weeks.

The plot of the book starts as Eragon finds a blue egg that looks like a large sapphire kind of like this as imagine.

Later when the egg hatches a dragon appears in which Eragon is burdened with the duty to kill the Galbotrix who is the king who killed the other dragon riders and their dragons if they did not follow his orders. As i am reading this he is burdened with the duty to kill some who terrorizes everyone he loves and what they do. I find the plot very similar to harry potter in which he is burdened with the task to kill someone who has done something bad to him even thought at first he may not completely understand.

The similarity comes when the the Ra'zak some evil creatures that work for the king come and kill Eragons only family which is his uncle whom he lived with. In Harry potter his parents are killed and he swears that he will eventually come back and kill Galbotrix with his own hands when he finds everyone has died becasue he found the dragon. Brom his mentor says "Brom stepped forward with an expression both solemn and joyous. His eyes wereshining, and a tear shone on his cheek before it disappeared into his beard. He stood there
for a long while, breathing heavily as he watched Saphira, and she him. Eragon heard him
muttering and edged closer to listen." At this point in time tensions are high and I predict that becasue of that someone will end up making a mistake because of that.
